Stories for February 16, 2008

- Expect to see a little of Warner Bros' Speed Racer game soon. Don't expect to be terribly impressed, though.

- I'm surprised that Midway hasn't shown the new Gauntlet yet.

- The amazing Mirror's Edge is also due for a proper unveiling before too terribly long.

- Plans have changed regarding The Lord of the Rings: The White Council, since I last mentioned it. It is dead now, replaced by Pandemic's LOTR project. The Hobbit is still coming, anyways.

- EA has plans for Battlefield Heroes-esque installments of quite a few of their properties, including Medal of Honor, Need for Speed, and some sports titles.

thx again for anwsering. Now i have a question about the answer you gave me:''The publisher and platforms are a surprise, but I will say that the game looks pretty amazing.'' SO There will be multiple platforms? Is the publisher MS,EA or big a multi-platform company? And if its going to be a ''suprise'', will be hear about it @ gdc?

Hi skaterboy

The EA news sounds interesting.

Id like to ask a few questions:

1) Will Warhawk ever get a sequel? Or will the game remain in its current form, and just receive DLC?

2) Are there any new God of War titles in development, albeit Gow3, and the PSP version that is currently going to be released? Also, is the PSP version getting a PS2 port?

3) Do Sony have any announced exclusives coming for PS3 and PSP? If so, how many for both platforms respectively, and can you give any information on them?

4) Do Sony see Afrika as a big seller? It seems like the sort of game that will gets a bunch of DLC; will it?

5) Will Sony release Buzz! and Singstar PS3 in Japan? Will foreign songs ever be available for DLC?

6) There was some talk of PSN perhaps getting PS2 games for download... any truth to this?

7) Any new PixelJunk games coming for PSN?

8) Team ICO's PSN title: will it be similar in design to ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, or will they instead venture into different territory? Any information about it?

9) When will we get more information about Suckerpunch's Infamous? The title seems rather intriguing but there is nothing beyond the first trailer that was shown. As well, any impressions on how it is shaping up? And why does the protagonist remind me of Phil Harrison?

10) The Eyetoy was a major peripheral for Sony for the PS2. SO far in the PS3's cycle, it's use has been minimal. Are Sony going to start ramping up the eyetoy avenue any time soon?

Thx again!

hi there, sorry... question 3 should have read 'unannounced' instead of 'announced'

:P

my mistake

Okay...GDC is on in a another day or so...you could tell us some unannounced games that will actually take us souls by storm...besides BioShock 2 and Gears 2...Oh i heard that Frontlines might just get a PS3 release...its not completely been cancelled..although its a prety medicore game anyway...What exactly happened to Enemy Territory for the consoles seems MIA for a long time and this game called Killing day from Ubisoft that boasted about 100%destructible environments...

How do companies allow you to say this stuff? I'm thinking they wanna keep some things secret...

Thanks for the answers!

Have you seen EA's Catch of the Day on the Wii in person? Do you know if it supports 480p, 16:9, and Dolby Pro Logic II? Any idea what it's framerate is? And is it even good? The style looks really well done!

Was Intel's acquisition of Offset Software surprising enough? They won't be the publisher though. And of course it will be multi-platform: PC and Xbox 360.

I have responded to these questions in the comments section of the February 21st post. :)

1000:
Well, as you saw, aside from Gears of War 2, there wasn't much. Remember, GDC is more of a technology and technique conference for actual developers, than it is a dog-and-pony show for the media.
Frontlines is still not planned for PS3, and it's really not a huge loss.
Quake Wars is still planned for console release.
Killing Day was quietly scrapped a year and a half ago.

Anon One:
Yes, there will be another Fire Emblem on Wii.
Your English is very nice, by the way! :)

what:
I assure you, they still keep many, many, many things secret. There are many things that neither I, nor Surfer Girl, nor the collective Quartermann, nor anybody else "on the outside" know about. We're not omnipotent, and that's why we're all wrong, sometimes.

Hero of legend:
I have not seen that game, unfortunately. Sorry.

gorillamuseum:
Probably.

rukusa:
Not for a good long while. I wouldn't bet big on seeing anything at E3, at least.
